Community Engagement: Creative for Health

Research suggests that creativity is good for our health.  Regular practice has been shown to reduce the harmful effects of stress, improve immune system function, and help us cope with anxiety and depression.  With this in mind, we have created quarterly themes to help promote a creative practice among the UF Health community.   We encourage you to utilize these themes and corresponding prompts to inspire art making.  Click on the theme below for prompts and project ideas.

Community: July-September 2016

Gratitude: October- December 2016

Creativity: January-March 2017

Hope: April-June 2017

How to participate:

  1. Create a piece of artwork based on our theme Hope.  The artwork can be in the form of a sketch, painting, watercolor, collage, photograph, print, sculpture, literary piece or computer-generated image.  The performing arts are also greatly encouraged.  Write a song, create a theatrical piece or dance inspired by Hope. Let your creative juices flow in whatever way you choose.
  1. Share your work!  We will be featuring a Creative for Health artist every month on our website and through social media.  Acceptable submissions include photographs of original works, literary pieces or YouTube videos of performance pieces.  Submission can be emailed to Kris at sullkm@shands.ufl.edu.
  1. Feel good knowing you did something creative…for your health!
